ReFrame is Bloomington's premiere custom picture framer.
Large or small, old or new, paper or fabric, 2D or 3D objects, fine art or kitsch – ReFrame can handle all of your framing needs.
Sales Process
From the moment our clients step through the front door, ReFrame is the friendliest frame shop in town. Their trained and knowledgeable framers will guide you through the often-overwhelming number of options in custom framing.
When you bring a work to ReFrame, the designers start by asking questions and listening carefully to your desires for the piece. They ask the relevant questions, finding out where the piece will be displayed, what the piece means to you, and what you feel the ideal reaction to the piece should be. They will take the time and care to guarantee that you're happy with the work and you'll be proud to hang it on your wall for years to come.
Quality custom framing is a careful balance between an almost infinite number of choices. The proper selection of frame choice, mat choice, and glass choice means that you'll have a piece that makes people stop and take notice.
Frame
ReFrame's designers work with a number of green product lines from vendors all over the country, but they especially love to work with the BloomingFrames line of hardwoods that come from Monroe and surrounding counties. Because the BloomingFrames timber is entirely reclaimed or recycled and it is sourced locally, there is no greener frame you can buy for your work. BloomingFrames can be customized with a wide variety of natural, green finishing options.
However, there are some projects for which a BloomingFrame is just not the right choice. This is where ReFrame's extensive selection of vendor frames is important. The vendor frames expand your design options, and the vendor frames offered by ReFrame have been carefully selected and rated for how green they are. Carbon footprint, transportation mileage, finishing products, and many other criteria are used to determine what frames ReFrame will carry.
Mats
Proper mat choice is critical to making a great frame. If your mat color is off, the picture can be overwhelmed by a strong color. Alternately, if the color is too weak, it makes the whole piece disappear, making very little impact on the viewer. Getting color of the mat, the size of the mat, and the texture of the mat exactly right can be very difficult. That's why ReFrame only hires trained designers with backgrounds in art. The difference that a real professional makes is evident in the final product you receive.
Glass
Even something as seemingly-simple as glass comes with a variety of choices when you're framing a project. Because we specialize in preservation framing, the different glass choices we use each feature a UV-protective coating that keeps out 99% of harmful UV damage from lighting.
Conservation Clear Glass
This is ReFrame's standard glass choice, and is appropriate for many projects. It is preservation quality, UV-coated glass. It is highly reflective, though, and in situations where the framed piece will hang in a high-glare location, it may reflect too much light and obscure the work on display. For these situations, ReFrame recommends one of the other glass choices.
Reflection Control UV Glass
This glass choice is good for most high-glare situations because it utilizes a slightly matted coating to cut back on the light reflected off the glass. This reflective coating can, on occasion, make the work in the frame look a little foggy and mute the colors. That's when the next glass choice is perfect.
Museum Glass
ReFrame's designers love to frame with museum glass. They call it the 'Cadillac' of glass choices. It's fully UV protected, but the coating used to filter out the UV rays is specially-formulated to be low-glare. When a piece is framed with Museum Glass, it looks like there's no glass in the frame at all. It provides the clearest, safest, and most beautiful framing option possible.
